ECA Medical Debuts Bi-Directional Ratchet for Implant Fixation

Developed with surgeon input, the device offers tactile and audible feedback during implant placement.

ECA Medical, a designer and manufacturer of single-procedure surgical instruments and sterile-packed procedural kits, has released its TruCLIQ family of bi-directional ratcheting instruments to secure orthopedic and spinal implants.

Earlier this month, hand and foot/ankle surgeons performed the first patient procedures using TruCLIQ for final fixation of nails and screws in fracture and degenerative repair surgeries. The sterile, single-use instrument is part of ECA complete sterile-packed instrument set and features a cannulated design for minimally invasive procedures.

Developed with surgeon input, the device offers tactile and audible feedback during implant placement while its ratcheting mechanism is designed to reduce hand motion and fatigue.

Available for production orders, the instrument is available in multiple handle configurations and private-label options, with AO and ¼-inch square connectors compatible with stainless-steel drivers. It supports clockwise, counterclockwise, and neutral operation for a variety of orthopedic procedures, including trauma, foot and ankle, hand and wrist, sports medicine, spine, and large-joint applications.

The Thousand Oaks, California-based company’s product library includes single-use power and handheld torque limiters with 0.5 to 14 Nm set points, as well as fixed drivers for implant preparation and fixation.

Last March, ECA began shipping its Revcon screw system instrument kits for minimally invasive bunion surgery (MIBS) to Voom Medical. The kits were developed in collaboration with the Voom team, including the company’s founder and CEO, Dr. Neal Blitz, DPM.
